connecting the dots
I paint by putting seemingly irrelevant things next to each other, using color and texture to connect the dots between them. A bundle of cherries and a red rotary phone. A family of ducks strolling past a New York brownstone. Even George Washington, an ominous smiley face, and a postage stamp. I don't pick them because they go together; in fact, I pick them because they don't. Figuring out how they connect is my favorite part of the creative process.
I make pieces that range from small enough for a desk to large enough to take up most of a wall.
